Another condition that is mostly seen in fast eaters is type 2 diabetes, one study found that people who ate too quick were 2.5 times more likely to get type 2 diabetes than those who ate more slowly. Metabolic syndrome is another health problem that can be caused by eating too rapidly. It is a combination of health conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart problems and high blood pressure. Fast eaters also experience slow digestion, it is because when eating fast people mostly don’t chew their food properly and take big bites which leads to poor digestion. Fast eaters also report experiencing less satisfaction and not enjoy their food as much as slow eaters.
Slow eating can be beneficial:
Slow eating and chewing your food properly can have a number of health benefits, one of them is feeling full and not eating more than your body needs. It prevents extra calorie intake and prevents overeating and weight gain. Eating slowly also promotes proper digestion and satisfaction and makes food more pleasant tasting and enjoyment.
Some of the techniques that can be helped in slow eating are:
1. Not to eat infant of screens like a computer, television and smart phones, as it can lead to mindless eating and not keeping track of how much you ate.
2. Avoid getting too hungry as it can also make you eat faster and more than what you actually need. For this keep healthy snacks around like fruits and nuts.
